Information/FAQ
General Information

I can't read any of your handouts or flyers or instructions? - You need Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can get it by clicking the Adobe graphic.

What meetings are required of Instructional Coaches? - Coaches' Meeting, Coaches' Certification Card (ARVB), CPR/AED Certification.

What meetings are required of Competitive Coaches? - Coaches' Meeting, CPR/AED Certification

Why do I have to attend the coaches' meeting? - Because we are going to go over information and want to do it once. When you do not show up, you miss out on important details about the season and your teams that we do not want to have to repeat multiple times.

Why are you requiring a coach to be certified in CPR/AED? - Do we really need to answer this one? At least two coaches on the field HAS to be CPR/AED certified. The cost is $25 per head.

Why are you requiring a instructional coaches attend the coaches' clinic? - We've changed our focus from a pure "recreational" league to one that strives to provde the best possible "instruction" to our young folks. We are going to the expense and effort to bring in former major league players, coaches, and instructors to help you make this experience the best it possibly can be for our kids. You may be the best coach in the world, know everything, and have a team that will never get scored on, but, there is a slight chance you could learn something - OR teach us something new. Come out willing and ready to share and learn.

I'm having problems getting signed up. I can't get logged in, create an ID, or <insert problem here> keeps me from registering. What's the problem? - You just need to change your security settings. We are working to change the cookie/security policy of our provider, but in the interim, you need to change your browser's cookie settings. You can find instructions for Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) HERE, and Mozilla Firefox instructions are HERE

What happened to Tulsa Kids Baseball (TKB)? - Nothing. They are still running their leagues in Tulsa, but have rules that differ from how most tournaments and other leagues in the state are run. BYB has decided to change our format and become a part of ARVB instead of TKB.

What is the new format? - The new format is simple. We have a competitive division and an Instructional division. Competitive teams pick their players and register the entire team. This is generally teams that play in tournaments and travel, but could be for teams that are wanting to see better and more skilled play. Instructional is set up like any area recreational league (like last year's BYB league), but we want to focus on helping the coaches help the kids. This division will be for kids that need to improve their skills while seeing competition that is commensurate with their ability.

How are the ages determined? - The lowest age group a player can play in will be determined by their age on April 30. I.e. if the player turns 9 on May 1, they will be able to play in the 8U group and above (they can play up to any level they want/can). They cannot play in a lower division, no matter what grade they are in at school. We have screwed this up in the past when we explained it, so visit this link, type in the player's birthdate and it will tell you what division/age group they are eligible to play. USSSA Age Calculator

How Much Does All This Cost? - You can find the price for individuals in our Instructional League as well as Teams on our handouts. HERE is our latest flyer sent to the schools. Price range from $900 for Coach Pitch (8's) to $1400 (kid pitch) for a team and $70-$120 for ages starting at 3 and going through 14. Older kids are eligible to play as well (up to 18). Please contact us for information about the older age groups and teams.

My Kid Is 8, But Wants to Play Up - Why Am I Charged For a 9 Year Old? - You pay for the league you're playing in, not the age of your child. This only applies if you are not playing in the age group you would normally play.

I have a team from last year's grade based BYB/TKB format and I want to stay in the Instructional/recreational division - how does that work ? - Your team will stay intact as long as you do not have anyone that is too old to play in the division you select. If you need additional players, they will be drawn in the draft.

How much does it cost? - League fees are re-evaluated each year, but currently the fees are listed HERE on our flyer.

What about uniforms? - Each team is responsible for their own uniforms. If you need help getting them, have your coach contact a board member for suggestions. Ages 3-4 (T-Ball) will have T-Shirts and caps provided by the league.

What do I need to play? - We suggest getting a glove. Other than that, you really don't need too much other than a good attitude, and a willingness to learn.

I want to play competitive, but don't know any coaches - How do I get on a team? - Let us know - we'll post your information on our bulletin board here, pass along any info we have on teams looking for players. You might want to check out the NEOKsports.com forums as well. Lots of area coaches troll that site during the season. To obtain information on the next draft keep an eye on the main page at http://www.bixbyyouthbaseball.org.

What happens if I do not get drafted? - Every effort is made to place players from the draft on a team.  In the event there are too many players in the draft to fill existing team rosters, we will either form a new team from those left or form a pool of players to be drawn from during the season in case a team runs short on players due to injury or relocation.

What if I want to submit an entire team? - GREAT!  Contact us via email or phone and we will provide you with the details.

Do you have to be certified to be a coach? - Yes. We are no longer going to require NAYS/NYSCA certification, but we are going to require at least one coach to be CPR/AED certified. We are working to set up the training and have that information before the first coaches meeting.

Where do you play? - Bentley Sports Complex just east of 148th Street South and Memorial Drive. - see the Directions page Details. Interleagaue games (for ages 8 and up) can be played at any facility that's involved in our game scheduling. Broken Arrow (Indian Springs), Jenks, All Star (61st & HW169)

How can I help? - Volunteer for a committee!!! Find out where you could provide the most support, and contact the board for assignment. We can use you as much as you'll be available. The more people we have helping, the greater the league will be.Also, take the information you get from here and pass it around. You will find flyers, forms, and anything else you need to promote the league. The more effort you put into it, the more fun you'll have as the league continues to grow and become an integral part in the Tulsa area recreational sports offering.

Ok, Enough Questions - Where Do We Sign Up? - See the BYB Online System link to the left. If you do not have an existing account, you can create one, get on a team (if during registration), or submit to be on a waiting list.
